The 48-year-old beat his rival in the final of the Masters on Sunday

Ronnie O'Sullivan's X-rated comments about Ali Carter will reportedly be reviewed by the World Snooker Tour.

The two men faced off in an epic Masters final on Sunday, with the Rocket winning 10-7 to secure the crown for the eighth time.

Carter was, however, unhappy with O'Sullivan and accused his opponent of 'snotting all over the floor' at Alexandra Palace.

Not one to back down, O'Sullivan then came out fighting and launched into a rant - saying his opponent was a 'f*****g nightmare' and needed to 'sort his life out'.

"[Carter] needs to sort his f*****g life out," he said.

"I'm not going to skirt around it anymore, tip-toeing on eggshells around someone like that. He's a f*****g nightmare.

"Playing snooker against someone like that is a nightmare.

"He's not a nice person. It's not a nice vibe he leaves around the table.

"I've said my piece, I don't give a s**t. I've said it now, done. You know what he's like, everybody knows what he's like.

"He's got issues. F*****g why has he got issues with me? I'm not having it.

"I don't care, grow some balls. I don't give a f**k about any of these snooker players, any of them.

"The more he brings it on, the more I f*****g punish him every time.

"He's just digging a grave for himself. I don't give a f**k. That's it, I've said my piece."

According to PA, however, World Snooker Tour chiefs are poised to investigate O'Sullivan for his comments.

They have said his outburst is 'under review' and refused to comment further on the matter.

O'Sullivan and Carter's long-running feud dates back to a World Championship match between the pair in 2018.

Carter shoulder-barged his rival, with O'Sullivan then barging his opponent back.

The bad blood remains six years on and Carter was far from happy after losing at Alexandra Palace on Sunday night.

Speaking in the aftermath of his defeat, he said: “There were a couple of things that happened out there that go unnoticed.

"Well, they don’t go unnoticed – anyone with an eyesight or a brain can see what’s going on.

“It’s disgusting, quite frankly. No-one wants to say anything, do they? (O’Sullivan) snotting all over the floor and all that.

“I mean it’s outrageous behaviour from a top professional. If it gets swept under the carpet then for me, it’s not good.”

News of an investigation into O'Sullivan comes with the 48-year-old already currently involved in a disciplinary dispute with the game's governing body.

The Rocket has faced scrutiny for comments about unsanctioned exhibition matches, with the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association looking into the matter.

Meanwhile, O'Sullivan admitted he was amazed to have beaten Carter on Sunday - drawing laughs from the Ally Pally crowd in the process.

"I dunno how I've won this tournament to be honest with you," he confessed.

"I just dug deep, I've tried to play with a bit of freedom and then tonight I thought try and keep Ali honest.

"If he was to win he'd have to scrape me off the table."
