'He has to be able to physically do it,' the insider added, noting that whilst the couple discussed the decision together, the final call was Kelce's own.
Swift's advice aligned with that of Kelce's teammates in Kansas City.

Rashee Rice, the Chiefs' wide receiver, claimed significant credit for Kelce's decision to continue playing.
'I ain't gonna lie to y'all, I'm 95 percent of the reason he ain't retiring,' Rice told REVOLT Sports.
He recounted telling Kelce: 'Bro, we can't go out like that.'
Rice revealed he texted his team-mate directly about the matter.
He continued: 'He basically was like, "bro, I really appreciate that." He's like, "you really got me thinking about it. I really appreciate you reaching out to me."'
Kelce himself opened up about his decision on the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his older brother Jason.

'I feel like I owe the guys that I come into that building with a whole lot more effort and focus,' he admitted when discussing the Super Bowl.
The tight end was clearly disappointed with his performance in the championship game.
'I just don't know what it was during that game man, I wasn't at my best,' he said.
'The more that I see clips or watch the film and put myself back into those moments, man, I'm just like "what the f***."'
