Luke Littler is set to lose £83,000 from his £200,000 winnings at the World Darts Championship.
And that's due to tax rules, with an expert saying there's nothing he can do about it.
The 16-year-old enjoyed a stellar run at Alexandra Palace and performed brilliantly in his defeat to Humphries.
However, despite leading 4-2 at one stage, the teenager ended up losing 7-4 as his hopes of glory went up in smoke.

While Littler lost, he was still delighted after reaching the final.
The youngster was given a huge £200,000 check - with Humphries claiming £500,000 as a result of his victory.
An expert at investment platform Saxo, however, says Littler is poised to lose a large chunk of that money.
Andrew Mangion, Head of Tax Product at Saxo, said: "Everybody needs to pay tax, no matter their age, and under 18s have the same personal allowance as adults.
"Normally children don’t work or if they do, their pay is generally under the tax free allowance.
"In this case, it's rare for a teenager to come into so much money in one lump sum and we would advise him to take professional financial advice on how to best act on this."
Saxo say Littler will have to forfeit £76,203 in tax, as well as £7,330 in National Insurance.
That amounts to roughly £86,000.
However, Littler will still be left with plenty in the pot to treat himself, his girlfriend Eloise Milburn, his family and his friends.
Speaking after his defeat on Wednesday, meanwhile, the teenager opened up on what he plans to spend his money on.
He said: “I always treat myself to some Under Armour tracksuits.
“And just get myself a new coat and get myself some Fifa points for my Xbox.
"That’s pretty much it.”
Littler also joked that Skoda, who sponsor him, should gift him a car.
“I’ve got a Skoda so I’m sure they can sort me out!” he said.

“All my friends are watching at home, we’ve always said we need to go Blackpool or Alton Towers so I think they will be looking at me like ‘you’re paying, Luke’ and I’ll be like, yeah, okay!”
Humphries, meanwhile, has told GB News that he has no issue with Littler dominating the headlines.
"I've not looked at the front pages," the 28-year-old admitted.
"To me, there's nothing else that matters in the media.
"I've got what I wanted right here, the world champion, world trophy.

"So regardless of what's on the front pages, I'm not in this game for the game or to be on the front pages of newspapers.
"I'm in it to be multiple, multiple world champion and I've got my first there.
"So nothing else matters to me."
