Luke Littler was playing up to the crowd early in his quarter-final match.

Luke Littler had the Alexandra Palace crowd in the palm of his hand in the very first leg of his World Championship quarter-final - so much so that he paused mid-throw to take in some of the applause.

After a shaky start that saw Littler go 2-0 down in the opening set, the 16-year-old quickly shook off those nerves to draw level at 2-2.

His confidence was soon sky high with the crowd supporting his run and had an opportunity to pull of a 'Big Fish' finish of 170 to take the set.

After hitting triple-20 twice, the Alexandra Palace crowd were on their feet for Littler to go for the bull and take the set.

Instead of continuing his momentum, Littler incredibly stopped to look at his family and friends before turning to face the crowd and asking whether they wanted it.

The crowd loved it as they began cheering even louder before Littler returned to his spot at the oche and attempted to hit the bull.

Unfortunately, the Alexandra Palace crowd collectively groaned as Littler's dart failed to land inside the bullsete.

He had more than enough time to make up for the miss as his opponent Brendan Dolan was not anywhere near being able to finish.

Littler got the job done on his next throw to take the opening set and went on a streak of seven-straight legs to take a commanding lead.

Dolan appeared to have no answer for Littler, who went from strength to strength throughout the match.

The teenage sensation opened up a 4-0 lead to leave him just one set away from continuing his historic run.

Littler already guaranteed himself £50,000 in prize money by reaching the quarter-final.

And that figure doubles for any player who reaches the semi-final of the World Darts Championship.

Awaiting either player is Rob Cross, who pulled off one the most dramatic comebacks in darts history against Chris Dobey.

Cross was 4-0 down against Dobey and on the verge of exiting the tournament before coming back to sensationally win 5-4.

Three-time world champion John Part felt sorry for Dobey, who was seen as the favourite by some for his performances this year.

Part said: "You've got to feel for Chris Dobey. He played brilliantly all World Championship-long. He got just nipped by Rob Cross by a few sets.

"In any case, it was a very close battle all the way where Dobey was the better player most of the way but it ended up on the averages Rob getting ahead at the end on the back of some great finishing."
