Travis Kelce was left heartbroken after witnessing his girlfriend Taylor Swift face brutal booing during Sunday night's Super Bowl in New Orleans.
A source close to Kelce told Daily Mail that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end "felt helpless" watching the incident unfold at the Superdome.
"Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him," the source revealed.
"He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn't help."

The booing incident occurred early in the game when Swift appeared on the Superdome's jumbotron screen.
The crowd, largely supporting the Philadelphia Eagles, responded negatively to Swift's presence due to her Chiefs allegiance.
A lip reader revealed Swift's immediate reaction, claiming she uttered "Aww what, what's going on" when the booing began.
Swift responded to the hostile reception with a mocking side-eye.
Tennis star Serena Williams quickly came to Swift's defence on social media, posting: "I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo!!"
Throughout the match, Swift watched from a VIP suite alongside Este Haim and Ice Spice.

Kelce was further dismayed by former President Donald Trump's comments that Swift had a "tougher night than the Chiefs."
The source revealed that Kelce found Trump's remarks unnecessary, especially after expressing honour at having a president attend the game.
The difficult week marks a double blow for the couple, with Swift missing out on a Grammy and the Chiefs losing the crucial game.
"After Taylor being shut out for a Grammy and Travis losing the biggest game of the year it just hasn't been a good week for them," the source told DailyMail.com.

However, the source emphasised that their relationship remains a source of strength for Kelce.
"But he knows that even though this is not a happy ending to the season having her love gives him so much joy," they added.
The defeat ended the Chiefs' hopes of becoming the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
