The UFC legend might be ready to step into the ring - but in a different sport

New footage has emerged showing Conor McGregor training without gloves, fuelling speculation about a potential move to bare-knuckle boxing.

The former UFC two-weight champion can be seen drilling stand-up boxing techniques at Crumlin Boxing Club near Dublin, his childhood gym.

McGregor, who became part-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) in 2024, has repeatedly hinted at competing in the organisation.

The 36-year-old Irishman hasn't fought in any combat sport since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021.

McGregor has described himself as a "player-manager" of BKFC, indicating his intention to both promote and compete in the organisation.

BKFC founder David Feldman has confirmed McGregor's desire to fight in bare-knuckle boxing.

The Irishman would have no shortage of potential opponents at his weight class, including Eddie Alvarez, whom he has previously fought.

Other possible matchups include Jeremy Stephens, Mike Perry, and BKFC champions Austin Trout, David Mundell, and Mike Richman.

McGregor was scheduled to make his UFC return against Michael Chandler last June but withdrew due to a broken toe.

UFC president Dana White has yet to commit to any return date for the former champion.

Currently, McGregor remains tied to a two-fight deal with the UFC, meaning he would need to negotiate his way out of this contract to compete in BKFC.

Despite his absence from competition, McGregor has maintained his training regimen and stayed active in combat sports through his business ventures.

Fans have reacted strongly to the footage of McGregor training without gloves.

Some are convinced he's preparing for a BKFC debut, with one commenting: "This could genuinely be a good move for him."

Others remain sceptical, suggesting it's merely promotional work.

"This is just to keep him relevant. He is NOT fighting ever again," wrote one fan.

Another added: "If you think he's gonna bare knuckle fight and risk injury you're dreaming."

Some even expressed concern, with one pleading: "Why? You're worth what 300 million? Conor, don't do that man."

McGregor has been vocal about his intentions to compete in bare-knuckle boxing despite his UFC contractual obligations.

"The warrior spirit burns strong inside me," he declared.

He issued a passionate statement about his fighting future that left little room for interpretation.

"If you think I'm up here giving these speeches and leading these men into battle and I won't step in there myself, think again."

McGregor concluded emphatically: "Conor McGregor will fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship — mark my words."
