A six-person shortlist has been confirmed
Fans have mocked and trolled the BBC after they didn't include Ronnie O'Sullivan on their list of Sports Personality of the Year nominees.
The broadcaster confirmed their six-person shortlist on Tuesday morning ahead of the 70th ceremony.
Mary Earps, Frankie Dettori and Stuart Broad all make the cut.
And Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Rory McIlroy and Alfie Hewett have all been named on the list as well.

One big omission, however, is snooker legend O'Sullivan.
The 48-year-old, who has been widely hailed after a recent documentary on his life, won a record-extending eighth UK Championship title earlier this month.
And the BBC have now been criticised for leaving O'Sullivan off their list of nominees.
The official Specsavers account said: "Must get eyes tested, can't see Ronnie."
A fan criticised the broadcaster by saying: "No Ronnie O’Sullivan? No interest."
A third said: "Ronnie O’Sullivan, a genius at his sport, just won his 8th UK crown extending his major honours to 22, at the age of 48.
"And he isn’t even mentioned. Yet Broad LOST the Ashes, and Earps LOST the World Cup, but it’s okay cos she saved a penalty…
"The [goat] overlooked once again."
A fourth ranted: "Where’s Ronnie???? Shocking BBC."
"I keep looking but for some reason I can't see @ronnieo147 on the list," were the angry words of a fifth user.
And a sixth said: "Absolute joke where’s @ronnieo147 nomination."
While there's no room for O'Sullivan, Earps is the favourite to reign supreme.
The Manchester United star has impressed at club level so far this term.
And Earps was vital as England made the final of the Women's World Cup back in the summer, saving a penalty as they lost 1-0 to Spain.
During the 2022/2023 season, Earps became the first goalkeeper to reach 50 WSL clean sheets.
She won the WSL Golden Glove with a record 14 clean sheets, with United finishing as runners-up in the Women's Super League and Women's FA Cup.
Earps did, however, make a mistake as England beat the Netherlands 3-2 at the start of the month.
And she apologised in the aftermath of that error, saying: “I thought the girls were unbelievable to come back into the game.
“I thought they were unbelievable, the subs that come on impacted the game.
“I am just sorry that my performance has cost the team tonight.

“That [second goal] will haunt me for a long time today, I am really gutted because it could have been a really special night.
“The team were unbelievable, don’t get me wrong, the goals are unbelievable, the way that they played and moved it around showed great patience at times, real tenacity, real intensity to the play.
“I am a competitor but when it is not good enough, it is not good enough and I can only apologise to my teammates and to the fans, I take that fully with my whole chest.”
