The World Indoor Bowls Championship has become the latest victim of the sex noise prank on the BBC.

The World Indoor Bowls Championship was interrupted live on the BBC on Saturday when loud sex noises were played out around the arena.

The tournament was at the semi-final stage with Stewart Anderson and Harry Goodwin competing for a spot in the final.

Goodwin had taken a 2-0 lead and was bowling his first from the mat in the next set when an unmistakable noise broke out from the crowd.

The crowd couldn't contain their laughter as the sex noises continued to play out around the arena.

Goodwin let out a smile while Anderson looked around and turned to the crowd in shock.

BBC commentator David Corkill chimed in: “Well, we have a problem somewhere.

"Hopefully, they get it sorted out pretty quickly, it sounds like a sound issue.”

The noise went on for a while until it was turned off, but it played again for a second time shortly after.

Both players shared a joke about it after Goodwin's bowl before play quickly resumed.

It's not the first time the sex noise prank has made an appearance on the BBC as Gary Lineker and co were left embarrassed when the clip disrupted their coverage of Wolves and Liverpool's FA Cup tie 12 months ago.

YouTuber Daniel Jarvis claimed responsibility for the prank on that occasion, which went off for around 10 minutes.

Lineker tweeted after the game had got underway that he discovered the source of the noise was a hidden mobile phone.

"Well, we found this taped to the back of the set," Lineker wrote on X along with a picture of a mobile phone.

"As sabotage goes it was quite amusing."

The same prankster was at it again last month for the Euro 2024 draw, using the same technique to cause mayhem.

Manchester City icon David Silva was left stunned on stage as the loud sex noises rung out around the venue.

At the World Indoor Bowls Championship, Anderson ended up seeing off Goodwin's challenge to progress to the final.
