The 28-year-old got her campaign in Paris off to a winning start
There was more controversy at the Olympics on Friday as Lin Yu-ting beat Sitora Turdibekova in their round of 16 clash in Paris.
Lin has been in the spotlight after previously failing a gender eligibility test at the World Boxing Championships last year.
Imane Khelif has already faced a huge backlash, with the Algeria star also failing to pass the same test at the same tournament. She beat Angela Carini on Thursday.
Both Khelif and Lin have been permitted to compete by the International Olympic Committee, who have launched a staunch defence of both athletes.

And Lin made her way into the quarter-finals with a victory by unanimous decision in France.
The Taiwan star won all three rounds on the judges scorecards and is now just three victories away from claiming gold.
Turdibekova didn't shake hands after the result, with the Uzbekistan boxer visibly unhappy.
With Lin and Khelif both winning matches over the past 24 hours, the IOC are likely to face more awkward questions on the subject.

Before Lin's win, the IOC and the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit released a joint statement condemning the criticism of the athletes.
"Every person has the right to practise sport without discrimination," it read.
"All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comply with the competition’s eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations set by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU).
"As with previous Olympic boxing competitions, the gender and age of the athletes are based on their passport."

Khelif was too strong for Carini on Thursday, with the Italian withdrawing from the bout after just 46 seconds.
And Carini said in the aftermath of the fight that she opted to quit in order to 'preserve my life'.
"After the second [punch] I couldn't breathe anymore," Carini said.
"I quit to save my own life. I went to my coach and said 'enough' because it takes maturity and courage to stop. I didn't feel like fighting anymore."

He also said it was wrong for the 28-year-old to be 'subjected to humiliation, insults and verbal bullying just because of your appearance and a controversial verdict in the past'.
And former president of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen, said the fighter was 'fearless in the face of challenges, whether they come from inside or outside the ring'.
