Noah Lyles' mother says security at Paris Olympics 'refused to call a doctor' after 200m collapse

Noah Lyles' mother has accused Olympics security of 'refusing to call a doctor' after her son's collapse in the 200m earlier this week.
The 27-year-old had gone into the event hoping to win his second gold of the games, having previously done so in the 100m last weekend.
However, Lyles was forced to settle for bronze with the Team USA star later falling to the ground.
Now, his mother Keisha Caine Bishop has alleged that stadium security initially refused to call a doctor for the sprinter.
Writing on Instagram, she wrote: "This was one of the scariest moments of my life!
"Watching my son hold his chest gasping for air while the stadium security refused to call a Dr. as I begged them to send him help.
"They also refused to do anything to help. They totally ignored me! No parent should ever have to experience this feeling of helplessness!
"However, I want to thank the @nbcolympics team for helping me during this moment. Thank you for seeing me & my son as human beings and not just another story.

"Words cannot express my gratitude for your empathy, professionalism, and kindness.
"Also thank you @usatf staff who let me cry on their shoulders.
"To the security team, I pray if your loved one ever needs help, they get treated better than you treated us.
"I also thank God he is getting better."

Lyles kept his Covid diagnosis secret from other athletes before taking part in the race.
He was treated by medics after his collapse and, on Saturday, announced he was free of Covid-19.
Lyles withdrew from the 4x100m relay earlier this week, with the 27-year-old confirming the news with a heavy heart.
Coach Lance Brauman praised Botswana's Letsile Tebogo, who claimed gold, and Kenny Bednarek, who secured silver.

But he also feels Lyles deserves extra praise for getting a bronze despite suffering from coronavirus at the time.
"Those guys raced great," he told The Associated Press. "But to get a bronze medal in 19.70 with a temperature of about 102, that wasn't too bad."
Brauman also says Lyles is now focused on ensuring he can take part at the next Olympics, which will take place in Los Angeles in 2028.
"He's going to be really good through LA at least, and then we'll see what happens after that," he added.

"I just need him to keep doing what he's doing."
Lyles has played a role in Team USA winning 125 medals so far this summer. China look set to finish top, however, due to having 40 golds compared to their rival's 39.
