The Spain international will now spend the season on loan at Old Trafford

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed the signing of Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham.

The Spain international moves to Old Trafford on a temporary deal until the end of the season, though the Red Devils have a clause in the deal that allows them to terminate the arrangement in January should they feel the need to.

United had been looking at Chelsea's Marc Cucurella after a serious injury to Luke Shaw.

But Reguilon, who had previously been a transfer target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his time at Old Trafford, has now arrived instead.

And Ten Hag, speaking ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday, has now confirmed the player is at Carrington and has trained prior to that match.

“He is here, yes,” he said.

“He is very experienced player, he has played for big clubs and played a lot of games in La Liga and the Premier League so has a very good background.

"So he can play very intense football so we are happy.

"We had a problem with Luke Shaw injured and Tyrell Malacia injured so we covered very well in an emergency situation.”

United had, earlier in the day, confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce.

The Turkey international has touched down as a replacement for Dean Henderson, who was allowed to join Crystal Palace on Thursday.

United believe Bayindir can compete with Andre Onana for a starting spot.

Ten Hag added: “He will be in the squad as well so happy with the keeper group, we covered every position so I think we have a very good keeper group with the signing of Altay.

"We followed him very intensely and we think he has the skills to fit in at Manchester United and fit in at English football so we are glad we signed him.

"We are confident he will make a lot of progress.”

Another player United are looking to sign is Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.

The midfielder has spent all summer long hoping to secure a move to Old Trafford.

However, after United prioritised other deals instead, the Morocco international has had to be patient.

United have now reached an agreement with Fiorentina for Amrabat, who is likely to be deployed alongside Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in the heart of their midfield.

But Ten Hag was coy when quizzed on the 27-year-old.

"I can't tell because I don't know. When we have news, we will tell you," he said bluntly.

The United manager also confirmed Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay were primed to stay at the club.

Maguire was linked with West Ham earlier in the summer, only for that move to fall through.

As for McTominay, the Scotland international has attracted interest from Fulham and Bayern Munich in recent days.

But Ten Hag said neither player is expected to leave and they'll be important as United look to challenge on all fronts.

"If you see the schedule, it's tough, it's really condensed, when you see last season, the World Cup, the season takes longer," he said.

"Two weeks, we played FA Cup final one week, we had a short break, a condensed pre-season, you need the numbers and quality.

"We have the depth and the quality players in, they can play in a variety of situations and we are ready to go for the fight."
