Judy Murray "added fire to the flames" with her "sarcastic" comments to Emma Raducanu, a has claimed.
The mother of the legendary tennis star caused a star over the weekend when she responded to Raducanu pulling out of the scheduled mixed doubles match with Andy Murray.
Under tournament rules, Murray was unable to find a replacement partner. That ultimately brought his Wimbledon career to an abrupt end and his mother, Judy bluntly responded: "Yes. Astonishing."
She later attempted to play down her initial remarks as "sarcasm" and pointed the finger at the All England Club as the real reason for Raducanu's withdrawal.

Speaking about the two-word response on GB News, sports commentator Ben Jacobs said: "In reality, it's a good thing that we've had clarity from Judy Murray that she was being sarcastic, and maybe she realizes that she's added fire to the flames.
"That naturally means that people are talking about radical news when actually the reality is that Andy Murray, I would imagine, empathizes with Raducanu.

"And maybe you can end this story by saying so publicly and backing radicals.
"And it was rightly said she's fully entitled to focus on her game. Singles tend to come above mixed doubles.
"That partnership was very much a last-minute pairing. It was sentimental. It was there to put two Grand Slam champions at Wimbledon together for sentiment purposes, to give Murray the best possible farewell.
"But you can't script tennis and when you schedule it in the way it was, she probably did have to pick one or the other."

When questioned whether she was 'surprised by Judy Murray's reaction on Twitter', Raducanu said: "I haven't seen her reaction, so I don't know."
The reporter then added: "She was being sarcastic on social media from a very emotional perspective when you had to pull out of the mixed doubles."
The exchange ended with Raducanu attempting to brush off the ordeal, adding: "I'm sure she didn't mean it."

Raducanu went on to explain she had no regrets over the whole situation given how her wrist felt on Saturday morning.
She said: "I think going into the tournament, I wasn't expecting to make fourth round. So for me, it was a no-brainer. I would have loved to have played.
"He didn't ask me, 'If you're still in the singles, are you going to play'? That was never a question to be answered.
"Given how I woke up yesterday morning, it was for me a no-brainer."
