The 23-year-old is currently in the spotlight

Jadon Sancho has deleted his post criticising Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

It's a click of a button in the right direction for the 23-year-old, who has underwhelmed considerably since his move from Borussia Dortmund two years ago.

But Sancho must now do more than just delete his post. The onus is on him, and only him, to show he's got what it takes to play at the highest level.

As England beat Scotland on Tuesday night, Sancho was likely watching the game from home. He's not been selected by Gareth Southgate for some time now and, given his poor form, that's unlikely to change.

When Sancho moved to United in 2021, it was viewed as a significant coup by many inside Old Trafford.

They had finally signed a player who had been eyed by Jose Mourinho four years previously, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer convinced he'd struck gold.

Sancho has been dire ever since, however. At the current rate, he looks like being one of the biggest flops in United's entire history.

And details published by The Athletic earlier on Tuesday do little to provoke a feeling that Sancho can bounce back and finally shine.

United are growing exasperated with their No 25, with Ten Hag's patience wearing thin.

The report says Ten Hag believes Sancho to be too sluggish in training, with his team-mates sharing the same frustrations.

United are annoyed at how Sancho turns up to training late, too.

During his time at Borussia Dortmund, he admitted he sometimes found it tough to get out of bed. Everybody can understand that.

But everybody still gets up to go to work whereas Sancho takes his time before belatedly arriving at United's Carrington training ground.

It isn't good enough. In fact, it's astonishingly poor from a player who is paid £350,000 every seven days.

United have signed some duds in the years since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement a decade ago.

Yet Sancho has been so bad he makes some of the others on the list look world-class.

United would kill for more trophies and Paul Pogba, while failing to live up to his own dizzying price tag, still provided them with two during his time at Old Trafford.

Romelu Lukaku scored 42 goals for United during his underwhelming stint in Manchester.

To put that number into perspective, that's 30 more than Sancho has managed. The 23-year-old has been at United for longer, too.

And even though Angel Di Maria struggled, his record of 12 assists and four goals from 33 matches for United looks considerably better than Sancho's own stats sheet.

In the wake of the winger's decision to delete his statement of defiance, he's now expected to return to the fold.

However, given the way Sancho apparently performs behind the scenes, few would bet on him to turn his situation around.

United were open to selling the player to Saudi Arabia but teams in the Middle East seemingly got wind of that news too late.
