Tiger Woods will not compete in next week's Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, the PGA Tour confirmed on Friday.
The 49-year-old golf legend was notably absent when the 144-player field was released.
There had been speculation that Woods might make his 2025 debut at the tournament, widely considered golf's "fifth major".
However, the two-time Players Championship winner has opted to extend his absence from official PGA Tour events, having not played competitively since missing the cut at The Open last July.

Woods' absence comes just over a month after his mother Kultida died on February 4 at the age of 80.
Speaking after a TGL match on Tuesday, Woods explained his current state of mind.
"This is the third time I've touched a club since my mom passed, so I haven't really gotten into it," Woods told reporters.
"My heart is not into practicing right now. I've had so many other things to do with the tour and trying to do other things."
Woods had previously withdrawn from the Genesis Invitational, which he hosts, following his mother's death.
This was Woods' final year of exemption for the Players Championship, which he earned after winning the 2019 Masters.
The five-year exemption, which included an extra year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, expires after this tournament.
Woods has not played in the Players Championship since 2019, when he tied for 30th.
Without special exemptions available for this event, Woods would need to qualify through his performance this year to return to TPC Sawgrass in future.
Woods has barely played golf since his mother's passing in early February.

Two of his rare appearances with a club were at TGL matches, with another being a round with former President Donald Trump.
He also participated in the Seminole Pro-Member tournament on Monday in Florida.
"Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I'll start looking at the schedule," Woods said.
Away from the course, Woods has been active in PGA Tour business, including meetings to advance negotiations with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
