Tiger Woods will miss the cut to play the weekend at The Open after another disappointing round on Friday.
Tiger Woods has confirmed that he will be taking a five-month break away from the PGA Tour before he tees it up again in a competitive event after he missed the cut at The Open.
The 48-year-old arrived at Royal Troon with plenty of optimism about his game, much like he did at the three other majors this year.
Woods stated that he had belief in his game to compete for the win and his 16th major title.
And he got off to a strong start as he was one-under par after three holes.

However, the wheels soon came off as he recorded three bogeys and a double before the turn.
Another double and three more bogeys followed on the back nine as he finished the opening round eight-over-par.
That left him needing to shoot a round inside the 60s to give himself a chance of making the cut to the weekend, but he once again struggled with the conditions at Royal Troon.
The 15-time major champion was three-over-par for the day after five holes and he failed to improve on the back nine.
He ended the tournament 14-over-par to miss the cut in his third consecutive major appearance.
And Woods has confirmed that he won't be back in action until later this year at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, an event he hosts.
The American sports icon also announced that he will be playing in the PNC Championship with his 15-year-old son Charlie.
"I'm not going to play until then [the Hero World Challenge]," Woods said.

"I'm going to just keep getting physically better and keep working on it.
"Hopefully, [I can] come back for the Hero and our fifth major, the father/son."
Despite his final score, Woods claimed that he still enjoyed the event as a whole at Royal Troon.
