Tiger Woods made history for the wrong reasons by becoming the first player to violate a shot clock rule during a TGL match at the SoFi Center in Florida.
The 15-time major winner received an automatic one-stroke penalty whilst competing for Jupiter Links GC against Boston Common GC after failing to take his shot within the allotted 40-second time limit.
In a twist of irony, Woods himself had been one of the key advocates for implementing the shot clock system to help speed up play in TGL matches.
The rule requires players to complete their shots within 40 seconds or face a penalty.

The violation led to Woods being unable to match Rory McIlroy's birdie, giving Boston Common GC a 2-1 lead at that stage of the match.
The incident occurred as Woods lined up for a crucial eight-foot putt during the match.
A loud buzzer suddenly sounded before he had struck the ball, catching both Woods and spectators by surprise.

The golf legend appeared exasperated as Boston Common players celebrated the violation.
The automatic one-stroke penalty was immediately applied, marking the first time any player had fallen foul of the shot clock rule in TGL history.
Speaking after the incident, Woods explained his usual pre-shot routine.
"Normally I slow my heart rate down before I pull the trigger," he said. "So dropping my heart rate down sometimes takes a littler bit longer than others."
The golf legend acknowledged his mistake, adding: "As I told these guys, it's on me. I should have called time out as I built in my stance because of the time.
