There was confusion over Erica Stoll's whereabouts after Rory McIlroy jetted back to Northern Ireland last week

Rory McIlroy has set the record straight about his wife Erica Stoll's whereabouts during his recent trip to celebrate his Masters victory.

The golf star confirmed that, despite media speculation suggesting otherwise, his wife was indeed with him throughout the celebrations.

"We first went to London with Erica and Poppy to see our new home that we're building and we made the trip over to Belfast to see a few other people that are important to us," McIlroy told reporters on Wednesday.

His comments come after numerous outlets reported that McIlroy had travelled with only his four-year-old daughter Poppy, fuelling speculation when Stoll was not pictured disembarking from his private jet in Belfast.

McIlroy elaborated on the family trip, which began in London before heading to Belfast.

"Just to be with them, to be with Erica and Poppy and my mum and dad," he continued.

The golfer explained they visited their new home under construction in London before travelling to Northern Ireland.

There, he spent time with his parents, who were unable to attend his Masters triumph in person.

"To see Michael Bannon my lifelong coach and spend a bit more time with Harry (Diamond) and his wife. Celebrate with the people that have been part of this whole thing for my entire career was absolutely amazing," McIlroy said.

He admitted to catching "a bit of a cold" during the travels but maintained it had been "an amazing few days."

McIlroy's celebrations followed his monumental victory at Augusta earlier this month.

The 35-year-old claimed the iconic green jacket after a play-off win over Justin Rose.

This triumph ended an 11-year drought without a Major championship for the Northern Irishman.

The victory was particularly significant as it completed McIlroy's career Grand Slam.

He now joins an elite group of just six players who have won all four of golf's most prestigious titles.

This exclusive club includes Tiger Woods, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus.

"It's not every day you get to fulfil one of your lifelong goals and dreams," McIlroy reflected.

McIlroy and Stoll have been married since 2017 and welcomed their daughter Poppy in 2020.

Their relationship faced public scrutiny last year when McIlroy filed for divorce in May 2024.

However, the couple reconciled shortly afterwards and called off the proceedings.

"There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate," McIlroy told The Guardian at the time.

"Responding to each rumor is a fool's game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together."

The golfer added: "Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."

McIlroy is competing at this weekend's Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Shane Lowry.
