Rory McIlroy has been tipped as a potential winner of The Masters this year

Rory McIlroy has confirmed he is fully fit for The Masters after concerns about an elbow injury that troubled him during his last competitive outing.

The Northern Irishman had revealed discomfort in his elbow at the Texas Children's Houston Open two weeks ago.

However, McIlroy has now put those worries to bed ahead of golf's first major of the season at Augusta National.

"Elbow is all good, elbow is good, got a little bit of treatment done last week and it's all good," McIlroy stated.

McIlroy, 35, is aiming to join an elite group of golfing legends by completing the career grand slam at Augusta.

Victory would see him become just the sixth player in the modern era to achieve this remarkable feat.

The world No.2 would add his name to an illustrious list featuring Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

McIlroy has already claimed the US Open, The Open Championship and two PGA Championships during his stellar career.

McIlroy enters The Masters in formidable form, having already secured two PGA Tour victories this season.

He triumphed at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and followed it with a win at The Players Championship at Sawgrass.

His fifth-place finish at the Houston Open marked his fourth top-five result worldwide this campaign.

"I'm feeling good," McIlroy said. "It's been a nice way to start the year with the two victories at Pebble Beach and Sawgrass."

The Northern Irishman has been meticulous in his preparation for Augusta National, splitting his time between course reconnaissance and home practice.

McIlroy revealed he made multiple scouting visits to the iconic venue before the tournament.

"I had a couple of visits up here," he explained. "I was very glad to do that after the weather we had yesterday."

His preparation also included dedicated practice sessions with coach Michael Bannon last week.

"We were doing some practice and played quite a bit of golf, tried to stay as sharp as I could."

World No.3 Xander Schauffele has spoken admiringly of McIlroy's current form ahead of The Masters.

"Rory has been playing unbelievably well this year with a couple wins already and kind of breezing through what looks like hard golf courses," Schauffele remarked.

The American described McIlroy's performances as "motivating" for his own game.

"There's so many guys that have played at a really high level, and luckily I've learned that I can play at that level," he added.

McIlroy will be hoping to end his 11-year major drought when he tees off at Augusta on Thursday.

His last major triumph came at the 2014 PGA Championship, following his Open Championship victory earlier that year.

The Northern Irishman came agonisingly close to ending his wait at last year's US Open.

Leading late in the final round, McIlroy missed crucial putts on the 16th and 18th holes to finish second behind Bryson DeChambeau.
