Golfing superstar Rory McIlroy is reportedly building a new house in the UK, according to his Players Championship playoff rival J.J. Spaun.
The American golfer revealed details of a private conversation with the four-time major champion that took place during their time at TPC Sawgrass.
McIlroy emerged victorious in the rare playoff after Spaun's approach on the 17th hole found water.
The pair apparently had ample time to chat throughout the tournament weekend, with McIlroy sharing his property plans.

PA"He's super cool. We were talking about the UK. I know he's Northern Irish, but I asked him if he ever hangs out in London," Spaun told the Fore Play podcast.
"My wife has got a really good friend that lives out there and loves going there so over the last couple of years, we go on this little vacation in December to the Cotswolds.
"I asked him about that, and he said, 'Oh yeah, I'm building a house out there.'"
Spaun described their conversation as "really friendly and light" before it tapered off during the back nine of their playoff round.
Despite his gut-wrenching loss, Spaun was rewarded with £2 million in prize money for finishing second.
The American, ranked in the top 30, has only one PGA Tour victory to his name - the 2022 Valero Texas Open.

The Northern Irishman has enjoyed recent success, with his Players Championship victory coming in Florida.
Spaun's comments come just one month after McIlroy discussed his wife's desire to spend more time in England.
"If it was up to her, she wouldn't move to England straightaway, but she definitely wants to spend more time there," McIlroy revealed during season three of Netflix's Full Swing.

Whether the couple would stay in the home McIlroy is reportedly building remains unclear.
The 35-year-old golfer has been married to American Erica Stoll since 2017.
McIlroy already boasts an impressive property portfolio across multiple countries.
His primary residence is a £17m Florida mansion, purchased in 2012, featuring a six-car garage, tennis court, pool and adjacent golf course.
