The USA star rolled back the years at LIV Hong Kong this weekend

Anthony Kim insists he is grateful for LIV Golf after producing his best performance since returning to the sport on Sunday, carding a five-under-par 65 at LIV Hong Kong.

The 38-year-old has now committed to playing his first event away from LIV in 12 years, after entering next week's Asian Tour International Series event.

Kim made a shock return to golf last month after cutting his career short in 2012 following a string of injury problems.

He kept himself away from the public eye during his hiatus but signed a deal with breakaway league LIV in February, making a playing return at LIV Golf Jeddah.

The 38-year-old had a difficult start, finishing bottom of the leaderboard after his first round in Jeddah, shooting six-over par.

But he has slowly returned to some of the form that saw him win three PGA Tour titles in his first incarnation as a professional.

His best came on Sunday in Hong Kong, when he finished above the likes of Phil Mickelson after hitting 65 in an event won by Abraham Ancer.

Kim was pleased with how he performed and says he is grateful for LIV to give him the opportunity to play.

He said: "I just kept doing what I've been working on the last two months.

"Obviously being away from the game for so long has been tough to practice and get all the things I need to get prepared for the tournament.

"But I'm working on the right things at the moment, I'm enjoying time with my family.

"The LIV Golf experience has been amazing and I'm just grateful."

Kim will now participate in his first event away from LIV after committing to the Asian Tour event in Macau next week.

A host of other LIV stars will also be participating, with the likes of Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed set to play.

Kim says he feels 'blessed' to be back competing again after such a lengthy break away from the sport.

He added: "I'm very proud, coming from where I came from over the last 10-12 years.

"I'm just very grateful for this opportunity. Every step I walk I feel blessed and no matter what I shoot, I feel like I've won.

"I never thought those words would come out of my mouth but I'm trying to play this game with a lot of gratitude and live myself the same way."

Kim's last PGA Tour win came at the Houston Open in 2010, triumphing via a play-off.

He says his confidence is building with every round he plays but insists he is not putting as much importance on golf as he used to.

Kim said: "[I'm] definitely feeling a lot better about my golf game.

"Golf isn't as important as living in the right way, and focusing on my family and doing the right things.

"So golf will come and it's just a matter of time."
