The Portuguese has spoken out after his side lost 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has vented his fury after Ibrahima Konate avoided a red card during his side's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The visitors were beaten following first half goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, with Matheus Cunha's sensational strike ultimately in vain.

In the first half, while on a yellow, Konate escaped more disciplinary action despite appearing to kick the ball away.

He was also fortunate to stay on the pitch after a bruising challenge on Cunha.

And Pereira has now vented his fury at the decision to let the former RB Leipzig star stay on the field.

He told Sky Sports, when asked if he was frustrated: "Yes of course.

"Second yellow card, red card, less one player, maybe it would be a different game.

"But I'm not a referee. I'm not there to decide. But in the end, I'm very happy and proud of my players in the second half.

"We cannot play again like we played in the first half. I don't care if it's against Liverpool or another team, it's about my team.

"I want to see the identity, personality, the courage to play in our way - not to come here and make it a party.

"Next time, we need to realise that we have quality and we believe in our quality.

"The second half was fantastic, what I remember from the second half is Liverpool had a lot of problems, a lot of difficulties to stop us. If we score the second goal, it was the fair result."

Pereira also admitted the result irked him given how well Wolves performed in the second half.

He continued: "Frustrated because it wasn't a win. Our first half, we showed a lot of mistakes, a lot of respect to them. We cannot play like this. We must play our game.

"At half-time I asked the team to play and press them in our way. And we did a fantastic second half. The second goal wasn't possible but I think we deserved it.

"The first half was too much respect, we cannot play football like this. We must respect them but playing our game. We are a team that likes to press higher, likes to create chances, to have the ball, to play with courage, as we did in the second half."

Liverpool boss Arne Slot, meanwhile, was pleased with his side's victory.

The Reds had gone into the game hoping to bounce back after losing to Plymouth and drawing with Everton on Sunday and Wednesday respectively.

Slot stated: "Just as big as all the other ones [victories] but this one is big as well.

"I said in the dressing room that maybe you come in a bit disappointed because it wasn't our best second half.

"But we fight until the end. We needed Alisson in an important moment and blocked a free-kick in a promising position.

"But in a season where you want to achieve something, no matter what you want to achieve, you need to have wins like this as well.

"Two weeks ago, we played fantastic football when we beat Spurs 4-0, that's in a season. But wins like this should also be in a season like this."
