January 31, more often that not, marks the end of the first transfer window of the year.
But that isn't the case for 2025, with the window poised to shut on February 3 instead.
The reason why? Well, last year, the Premier League acknowledged that the deadline should be extended in order to bring the English game in line with some of the other elite European leagues.
A statement read: “The winter window will open on Wednesday 1 January 2025 and will close at 23:00 GMT on Monday 3 February 2025.

"To ensure harmonisation with the major leagues in Europe, the closing dates were set following discussions with the EFL, DFL, Serie A, La Liga, and LFP, who will all close their Summer and Winter windows on 30 August and 3 February respectively.”
Given several players are still in limbo as the clock ticks down, perhaps it's a good thing after all.
Tottenham are currently on the trail of Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel as they look to turn their abject form around.
Tel will be allowed to leave the Bundesliga giants this winter, having failed to score a single goal all season.
However, Spurs aren't the only team being linked with a move for the forward.
Manchester United have been credited with an interest, with Chelsea also emerging as potential suitors.
Over at Aston Villa, Jhon Duran looks poised to leave for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
That blockbuster transfer would see the Colombian strut his stuff alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, who will celebrate his 40th birthday next week.

Villa hitman Ollie Watkins was recently the subject of a surprise transfer bid from Arsenal.
However, his chances of moving to the Emirates Stadium appear to be remote given Duran's imminent exit to the Middle East.
Another player currently in the spotlight is Marcus Rashford.
The 27-year-old hasn't featured for Manchester United since a 2-1 Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen on December 12.

Rashford wants to join Barcelona but the LaLiga giants, at the current moment in time, will struggle to afford a deal.
They may need Ansu Fati to leave first, with the winger attracting interest from Dutch titans Ajax.
Rashford has also been linked with Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Besiktas over the past few weeks.
However, it's also possible that he'll end up staying at Old Trafford with time running out when it comes to a potential departure.

Rashford's team-mate, Alejandro Garnacho, is being eyed by Chelsea and Napoli.
That's despite the winger featuring in United's 2-0 Europa League win over FCSB on Thursday night.
