The Hammers were held by the Blades in a controversial Premier League clash

David Moyes held back with his opinion on the match officials following West Ham's dramatic 2-2 draw at Sheffield United.

The Scot instead called out Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings for their roles in failing to see out victory at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

West Ham felt they deserved a penalty right at the end of the match, while they were also aggrieved that the hosts were given a spot-kick of their own.

But when asked directly about the two decisions, Moyes refused to give his true and honest opinion.

He told TNT Sports: "Well as you well know it's better that I don't talk about it, so I'll try not to.

"But I'll try and answer your questions while I'm here.

"The answer would be yes to both of them but I don't really want to go into detail in case somebody from somewhere is watching.

"You ask me and I have to do it, we have to come on and we have to answer the questions. But we get fined if we do.

"But look, we've got used to a level of officiating now which I think everybody and the managers are sort of saying it's hardly worth challenging at the moment."

Coufal was sent off in stoppage time, moments after Ings had missed a glorious chance when the Hammers were leading 2-1 and had a player advantage.

Moyes appeared to criticise both players, adding: "We should never have got ourselves red-carded.

"We were caught out in the middle of the field, which led to the free kick.

"But really we had a great chance to make it three, we didn't take the third goal which would have seen the game off, which we should have done when it was 11 v 10.

"And then we go down to 10 v 10 for the last few minutes, which should never have happened.

"Even at that point I'm still saying it's 10 v 10, it's not a problem and we'll defend it.

"But we didn't quite defend maybe as well as we should have done and certain decisions didn't go our way today."

West Ham took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Maxwel Cornet fired in on his first Premier League start of the season.

The hosts were back level just before half-time when Ben Brereton Diaz scored on his league debut for the Blades following his loan move from Villarreal.

West Ham restored their advantage in the 79th minute when James Ward-Prowse converted a penalty following a foul from Gustavo Hamer on Ings.

Chris Wilder's side were then reduced to 10 men in the third minute of stoppage time when Rhian Brewster was sent off for a late challenge on Emerson Palmieri.

Ings had a great chance to seal the win but had his shot blocked moments before he was substituted.

West Ham then lost Coufal after he picked up his second yellow card.

The home team were immediately rewarded when they were given a penalty for a push on Oli McBurnie by goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

There was then a delay as Areola had to be substituted following a cut to his face but McBurnie kept his cool to score past Lukasz Fabianski in the 103rd minute.

The game wasn't finished there though as West Ham felt they should have had another penalty when Anel Ahmedhodzic grappled with Jarrod Bowen but the referee and VAR deemed there to be no foul on the West Ham player.
