Wayne Rooney was sacked by Plymouth Argyle at the start of the year.

Wayne Rooney has made his debut as a 'Football Escapes' coach as the England icon looks for his next permanent managerial position.

The former Manchester United striker has had a difficult transition into football management and is looking for his fifth job in just three years.

He was a surprise appointment last summer to take charge of newly-promoted Plymouth.

But the 39-year-old was sacked just seven months after his appointment in a bitter blow to his managerial career.

Rooney was back in the public eye just last week when he made an appearances as a pundit as part of Amazon Prime's coverage of the Champions League.

But the England legend has now dipped his toe back into coaching by working with Football Escapes in Dubai.

The football course, which is held in resorts all over the world, was founded by Sam Hubert and Bobby Zamora in 2017 with Rio Ferdinand and Mark Noble joining the business too.

Now Rooney appears to have joined up as he's been pictured full of smiles while working with a group of kids.

The caption read: "Wayne Rooney has touched down in Dubai and kicked off his Football Escapes debut!

"From the first whistle, he’s been out on the pitch, coaching, inspiring, and making memories with our football families at Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

"Day 1 is just the start—big moments, top-class coaching, and plenty of fun ahead. Stay tuned!"

Rooney made it clear soon after his dismissal from Plymouth that he wasn't going to give up on football management.

While appearing on the Stick to Football podcast, Rooney was adamant about returning to the dugout soon.

"I would like to go back in [to management]," he said.

"But it would have to be the right club. Certainly the right club."

Rooney accepted that his time at Plymouth didn't go to plan, but that hasn't put him off trying to make a success elsewhere.

"I think you always have that ego don't you?" He added.

"You always have that confidence you could go in and get the best out of a bad or difficult situation.

"Obviously, that wasn't the case [at Plymouth]. I am going to enjoy time with my family, though."
