Everton and Nottingham Forest are said to be at risk of being handed a points deduction when the Premier League looks over financial accounts from clubs for the 2022/23 season.
All clubs were reportedly asked to submit accounts for last year by December 31 and any breaches of the regulations will be announced on January 14.
The Premier League changed its guidelines for the profitability and sustainability regulations (PSRs) this season to ensure any punishments could be handed out before the end of the same season.
According to The Times, both Everton and Nottingham Forest are the most at risk of breaching regulations.
Everton could be punished again

Everton have already received a 10-point deduction for breaching the PSRs from the 2021/22 season and they are appealing the punishment.
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has explained that Forest could also be at risk of breaching the regulations.
He told The Times: “Nottingham Forest were very much at the limit of their Financial Fair Play allowance when they were promoted to the Premier League and that investment in new players continued in their first season, when they signed players on high wages, including some such as Jesse Lingard who didn’t work out.
"If you are looking for clubs close to the limit they would be at the top in my opinion.”
Forest are reportedly confident that they have worked within the regulations and aren't concerned about any imminent punishments.
A statement from Forest read: “The club has fully complied with its reporting obligations in respect of the Premier League’s revised profit and sustainability rules.
“Promotion to the Premier League will always create challenges, and the treatment of promotion bonuses is just one such example.
“The club approaches all such challenges with its long-term financial sustainability firmly in mind, as the Premier League rules intended.”

Forest have brought in 42 new players since gaining promotion to the Premier League in May 2022.
But the £47.5million sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham is seen as crucial to balancing the books at Forest.

The upcoming announcement from the Premier League comes while Manchester City face 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations over 14 seasons dating from 2009.
The charges include claims relating to manager payments and a lack of cooperation with investigators.
City have denied all charges that were levelled at them last February.
