Spurs lost 4-0 at Anfield on Thursday night

Tottenham have been blasted by Sky Sports duo Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp after their 4-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool on Thursday night.

The north London giants had gone into the clash 1-0 up from the first leg but folded on Merseyside, with Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk all on target for Arne Slot's side.

Tottenham have endured a nightmare Premier League campaign under Ange Postecoglou so far.

And with their hopes of silverware over, at least when it comes to the Carabao Cup, pressure is mounting on the Australian.

On Sky Sports, Redknapp blasted his old side.

The 51-year-old blasted Tottenham for the way they collapsed and also described the defeat as 'horrendous'.

"(From) Liverpool’s perspective, it was fantastic, the way they got after them, set the high tempo," he said.

"The manager got everything right and when you have Salah up front, you get goals and assists every week.

"But from Spurs’ perspective I cannot remember a team in my lifetime going down with less than a fight as they did today.

"I feel sorry for those young players. Djed Spence played 14 positions tonight, I have never seen anything like it.

"I would look at the experienced players to lead, they didn’t do it one bit. There have been some lows, but that today is horrendous."

As for Carragher, the Liverpool legend was just as critical.

"It was never in doubt before the game," he continued.

"When do Tottenham ever win a big game and win against the odds and surprise? The odds are massively in favour of Liverpool.

"It’s not just this Spurs team, they never shock you. I'm trying to think of the last big game they won... it was probably the Ajax game (in the Champions League in 2019).

"They were very lucky (against Ajax), they got battered most of the game. Whenever they go in to big games, you never think there are going to win.

"That’s not just me as a Liverpool fan, none of those Spurs fans would have believed they were going to Wembley."

He continued: "I'm not just saying this for a headline.

"I think of Accrington [Stanley in the FA Cup], Liverpool didn’t play their best team.

"But they gave more, caused Liverpool more of a problem and that’s not right. It was Liverpool’s best team and they were giving more against Accrington.
