Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in the FA Cup as their disastrous form continued

Tottenham Hotspur's miserable week continued as they crashed out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

The loss comes just four days after their EFL Cup exit at Liverpool, leaving Ange Postecoglou's side with only Premier League and Europa League campaigns remaining this season.

Villa dominated for large periods at Villa Park, with the 2-1 scoreline flattering a poor Spurs performance that drew fierce criticism from supporters.

Jacob Ramsey put Villa ahead in the opening minute, squeezing a shot through Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

Morgan Rogers doubled the hosts' advantage after half-time, with young defender Gray slow to react before the goal.

Mathys Tel, making his full debut for Spurs, scored a late consolation with a clever flick from Dejan Kulusevski's cross.

The visitors struggled to make an impact throughout the match, with Villa in control for vast periods of the game.

Former Tottenham star Jamie O'Hara delivered a scathing assessment of his old club's performance at Villa Park.

O'Hara took to social media during the closing stages of the match to express his frustration.

"Kinsky has thrown one in the net and is still our best player, that's how bad we are," O'Hara wrote on X.

The ex-Spurs midfielder described the team's display as "beyond embarrassing" following their second cup exit in less than a week.

Tottenham's new signings endured a difficult evening, with goalkeeper Kinsky's error for the opening goal setting the tone.

Kevin Danso, one of three January arrivals in the starting lineup, missed an excellent chance in the second half.

Tel's late goal provided a rare bright spot on his full debut, but the 19-year-old has been handed a significant burden in trying to turn around Spurs' season.

Fellow newcomer Bergvall also struggled to make an impact, with games sometimes passing him by without support from senior teammates.

Pressure continues to mount on manager Ange Postecoglou following another below-par performance from his senior players.

Captain Son Heung-min appears to be "getting a free ride" from his manager, having avoided public criticism while younger players like Moore were substituted at half-time.

Rodrigo Bentancur was largely ineffective in midfield, with his only notable contribution being a cynical yellow card for shirt-pulling.

With both domestic cups now out of reach, Postecoglou needs much more from his experienced players if he is to survive the season as Spurs' head coach.
