The England legend has opened up ahead of this weekend's fixture

Newcastle United are being backed to take a massive step towards Champions League qualification this weekend.

The Geordies head to Villa Park for a crunch-clash with Aston Villa at the top of the table.

Both sides are fighting it out to be in the top five at the end of the season.

It means his weekend’s game will have a big impact on who finishes where.

And, according to ex England legend Terry Butcher, Newcastle will edge the game.

He’s backing the black-and-whites to win 3-2, and provide a huge tonic to manager Eddie Howe who is expected to miss his third match as he recovers from illness in hospital.

A defeat for Villa would be a double-blow coming so soon after their Champions League heartache against PSG in midweek.

Elsewhere, Butcher, now working as one of the UK’s top Mental Health and wellbeing keynote speakers is predicting that Liverpool will hold their nerve this weekend.

He’s backing them to take a big step towards the Premier League title by winning at Leicester City.

The Reds go to the King Power knowing that two more wins will be enough to clinch the title. And Butcher is backing Arne Slot’s men to come out on top, and win 2-0. If that happens, Liverpool could wrap up the title by beating Spurs next Sunday at Anfield.

But a Liverpool win would spell relegation for Leicester. They’d only have five games left and that wouldn’t be enough to claw back the points they need to drag themselves to safety.
