Steven Gerrard releases statement after losing job as Al-Ettifaq manager
The former England and Liverpool star has left the club by mutual consent

Steven Gerrard has released a statement after he departed Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq on Thursday following a difficult spell in the Middle East.
The Liverpool legend took charge of the team back in July 2023 after previously struggling at Aston Villa.
His time in the Middle East has been problematic, however, with Gerrard winning just 39 per cent of his matches in charge.
Al-Ettifaq have struggled in the league this season and currently sit 12th in the table.

On Thursday, the club confirmed Gerrard would be leaving hios position with a statement that read: "Ettifaq football club and Steven Gerrard have today mutually agreed to part company.
"The decision follows an amicable conclusion to the relationship with the manager."
And Gerrard has released a statement of his own, thanking staff at the club for making him feel welcome.

"I want to express my gratitude to the club, the players, the fans, and everyone involved for the opportunity and the support during my time here, especially the president, Mr. Samer, CEO Mr Hamad and the head of football committee Mr. Hatim," he said.
"I express my gratitude for Mr. Samer and Mr. Hatim from the first day I was warmly welcomed, and I have enjoyed the chance to work in a new country with a different culture.
"So overall I have learned a lot and it's been a positive experience personally and for my family as well.

"But football is unpredictable and sometimes things don't go the way we want.
"However, I leave with great respect for the club and country.
"I have no doubt that the work being done will bring success in the future, and I wish the team the very best for the rest of the season."

It is currently unclear what the future holds for Gerrard.
He is the latest England legend to struggle in management, with Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard also toiling.
Rooney had a disastrous spell at Birmingham before being named Plymouth manager back in the summer.

Yet the 39-year-old was axed on New Year's Eve with the Pilgrims sucked into a relegation battle.
Lampard has also struggled, with the former midfielder currently in charge of Coventry after failing to meet expectations at Chelsea and Everton.
Gerrard could choose to become a pundit now he's on the market, having covered matches for TNT Sports and ITV in the past.
