Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has expressed his joy at becoming a grandfather, as his eldest daughter Lilly-Ella is expecting her first child.
The 20-year-old is pregnant with boyfriend Lee Byrne's baby, with the former England captain responding enthusiastically to the announcement.
"We can't wait, great news and congratulations we love you," wrote Gerrard, who currently manages Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
Lilly-Ella shared the happy news on Instagram, posting photos of pregnancy tests, early baby scans and tiny boots.

"Our little secret the best news, mini us is on the way", she wrote in the announcement post.
TV personality Chloe Sims joined in the celebrations, commenting: "Yes yes yes so excited for you babe xxx".
The couple have been in a relationship since October 2022, when Lilly-Ella was 18 and Lee was 23.
Lee, who is the son of notorious Kinahan cartel member Liam Byrne, has previously expressed his deep affection for Lilly-Ella, describing her as "the best person he's ever met".
The pregnancy marks a significant milestone for the couple, who have been together for over two years.
Lee Byrne has no involvement in criminal activities, despite his family connections.
His father Liam Byrne, 43, was sentenced to five years in prison last month at the Old Bailey in London after pleading guilty to conspiracy to import firearms.
Steven Gerrard reacted on social media
The elder Byrne, who was arrested in Spain in 2023, is identified as the head of the Byrne Organised Crime Group.
His defence barrister told the court that his client "wants to find himself living a good and honest life" upon release.

Lourdes and Lexie Gerrard both expressed their joy, with messages saying they were "so excited" and "can't wait to be an auntie".
The new addition will be the first grandchild for Steven Gerrard and his wife Alex Curran, who have four children together: Lilly-Ella, 20, Lexie, 18, Lourdes, 13, and eight-year-old Leo.
