Marcus Rashford has had a fine start to life at Aston Villa after joining from Manchester United on loan

Roy Keane has dramatically changed his tune on Marcus Rashford following the forward's impressive start at Aston Villa.

The Manchester United legend, who previously launched a scathing attack on Rashford's attitude at Old Trafford, has now praised the 27-year-old's performances.

Keane's softened stance comes after Rashford registered his third assist in six games during Villa's FA Cup victory over Cardiff.

The pundit's U-turn marks a significant shift from his earlier criticism when Rashford was frozen out at United.

Speaking after Villa's 2-0 win over Cardiff, Keane offered measured praise for Rashford on ITV Sport.

"Marcus is very good at doing that [his assist], he had a bit of luck at the end but he needs it," said the former United captain.

However, Keane still had advice for the forward.

"A quality player walks onto it. Lovely, well-worked goal but he should be thinking about scoring a few goals himself," he added.

Rashford set up Marco Asensio's goal as Villa dominated the FA Cup tie.

Rashford has been enjoying a fresh start at Villa Park after joining on loan in January.

The England international was sidelined at Manchester United, with his manager reportedly unhappy with his approach to training.

Unai Emery has offered Rashford a lifeline at Villa, where he's quickly made an impact.

His assist against Cardiff continued his promising form since the move.

"Villa dominated in every area of the game and it was a matter of time before they scored," Keane told ITV.

Keane's latest comments stand in stark contrast to his previous furious rant about Rashford.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane had expressed disbelief at Rashford's situation.

"A player who doesn't train properly... I don't understand it," the pundit had fumed.

He went further, stating: "He must be ashamed."

Keane had been particularly critical of Rashford's attitude, suggesting that even if he wanted to leave United, he should "train properly" to be ready for his next club.

Villa are paying 75 per cent of Rashford's £325,000-a-week wages during his loan spell.

This figure could rise to 90 per cent depending on performance-related bonuses.

The arrangement includes an option for Villa to make the move permanent next summer.

The potential transfer fee has been set at £40million should Villa wish to keep Rashford beyond this season.

Rashford's future remains uncertain, with the possibility he could either return to Old Trafford or secure a permanent move away.
