The Sky Sports pundit has reacted to today's match at St James' Park

Roy Keane has dubbed Manchester United 'physically and mentally a weak team' after they lost 4-1 to Newcastle at St James' Park on Sunday.

The Red Devils had gone into the game hoping to return to winning ways after a 2-2 draw with Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday.

But United were dire against the Toon, with Ruben Amorim's side struggling as they were hit for four.

Sandro Tonali put the hosts in front in the 24th minute, with Alejandro Garnacho then levelling for United.

Harvey Barnes was the star of the show in the second half, however, with the Newcastle ace bagging a brilliant brace before Bruno Guimaraes added another late on.

United are rooted to 14th in the Premier League table, having won just 10 of their 32 league matches.

And Keane didn't hold back in his assessment of his former club, branding them 'weak' as their issues went on.

"It wasn't good enough in the second half from Man United," he said on Sky Sports.

"That's 14 league defeats now and we keep making excuses for the team.

"You've got to dig deep, even when you are up against it, and they didn't do that in the second half.

"We said at half time that the big test was still to come for United. Newcastle are an outstanding side and they have got into a good habit in big games. Man Utd are the opposite.

"Man United are physically and mentally a weak team.

"Newcastle were too fast, too powerful and more determined. United couldn't deal with the pace up front from the attacking players, and they got what they deserved.
