Phil Foden has been a regular starter for Gareth Southgate at Euro 2024.

Phil Foden has 'temporarily' left the England camp at Euro 2024 to be present for the birth of his third child, according to reports.

The Manchester City star started all three group games for England, but he has now flown back to the UK.

“Phil Foden has temporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK for a pressing family matter," an FA spokesperson said.

The BBC have reported that Foden has flown home to be by the side of his girlfriend, Rebecca Cooke, for the birth of his third child.

England's next opponent is yet to be decided as they could face one of five different teams.

Their disappointing 0-0 draw against Slovenia on Tuesday was enough to secure top spot in Group C.

It means they have avoided the likes of Germany, France, Spain and Portugal to stay on the other half of the draw.

Southgate's side will face either the Netherlands or whoever finishes third in Group E at 5pm BST on Sunday.

Romania, Belgium, Ukraine and Slovakia are incredibly all sitting on three points heading into their final group games.

But it's the results in Group F which could dictate who England end up facing due to the way the third-place ranking system works.

England will go up against the Netherlands unless Georgia pull off an upset and beat Portugal or the Czech Republic defeat Turkey.

The Czech Republic, Turkey and Georgia could end up finished third in Group F and if they end up there with three points or more then they will take Hungary's place in the third-place standings.

That would then result in a knock-on effect that would see England face the third-place team from Group E.

England will need to improve on the pitch to win over fans, who have vented their anger towards the team after their last two games.

There were loud boos from the crowd following Tuesday's draw with Slovenia and some plastic cups were thrown in the direction of Southgate.

"I understand the narrative towards me and that's better for the team than it being towards them," he said.

"But it is creating an unusual environment to operate in. I've not seen any other team qualify and receive similar.

"I understand it, I'm not going to back away from it, but I'm very proud of the players for how they're operating within it."
