The UFC star has opened up on Trent Alexander-Arnold

UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett has launched a scathing attack on Trent Alexander-Arnold over the defender's reported decision to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid on a free transfer.

The Liverpool-born MMA star didn't hold back in his criticism of the 26-year-old right-back, who is set to depart Anfield after two decades at the club.

Alexander-Arnold joined Liverpool's academy as a six-year-old in 2004 but will reportedly move to the Spanish giants at the end of the season without the Reds receiving any transfer fee.

The fact Liverpool will not receive any compensation for a player of Alexander-Arnold's calibre has particularly angered supporters.

Pimblett, speaking ahead of his fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 314 on Sunday, expressed his disappointment in interviews with both TNT Sports and Sky Sports.

"I don't even want to talk about it," Pimblett told TNT Sports when asked about Alexander-Arnold's departure.

"He's ratted Liverpool. He's done us dirty.

"He always said he wants to be the next Gerrard, wants to captain the club and then he's left on a free.

In his Sky Sports interview, Pimblett went further by labelling Alexander-Arnold a "lizard".

Some Liverpool supporters have demanded that head coach Arne Slot bench Alexander-Arnold for the remainder of the season.

More frustrated fans have even resorted to burning shirts bearing the defender's name.

The reaction highlights the sense of betrayal felt by many Liverpool supporters over the manner of Alexander-Arnold's exit.

"Forgot where he's came from," Pimblett continued in his Sky Sports interview.

The fighter expressed disbelief at Alexander-Arnold's decision, adding: "I'd trade my career in a heartbeat to have his. To win trophies for my city, for my team that I've grown up supporting my entire life."

"He's just leaving the club he's grew up and supported and have been there for him his whole life to be another cog in the machine at Madrid.

"He could've been a legend at LFC, he always said he wanted to be captain. So he was always lying, wasn't he? I think he's forgot where he came from."

Alexander-Arnold is reportedly set to join Real Madrid on a five-year contract worth over £220,000 per week.

The defender appears to be the only member of Liverpool's high-profile trio with expiring contracts who will leave the club.

Mohamed Salah signed his new deal on Friday morning.

Virgil van Dijk is set to be following suit with a contract extension.

Alexander-Arnold's departure comes despite his public statements about wanting to build a lasting legacy at Liverpool.

In September, he told Sky Sports: "I have always said I want to captain the club. That is a goal of mine, whether that happens is out of my hands."
