The club announced the news on Thursday morning via social media platform X.

The club added: "We thank supporters for their warm wishes".

Howe missed three matches during his two-week absence from the club.

Assistant manager Jason Tindall stepped in to oversee preparations during this period.

The Newcastle boss was unable to attend the team's impressive 4-1 victory against Manchester United at St James' Park, with the Toon running riot as they thumped Ruben Amorim's struggling side.

He also missed Newcastle's commanding 5-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Howe's absence continued through the team's recent trip to Aston Villa, which ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Magpies.

The Newcastle boss was initially taken to hospital on April 12th with what was described as an unspecified illness.

At that time, Newcastle confirmed their head coach was "conscious and talking with his family."

The 46-year-old has been a transformative figure since joining Newcastle from Bournemouth.

His tenure has included leading the club to their first domestic trophy in 70 years.

This milestone achievement came when Newcastle defeated Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Tindall, speaking after the defeat to Villa on Saturday, said he hadn't talked to Howe about the match.

"I’ve not (spoken to Howe). I’ve not had chance to see my phone since the final whistle has gone," he said.

"I’m not sure if there is any contact there, but as soon as there is any more news, then I’m sure the media team will update on that.

"Until I’m told otherwise, then obviously that (taking charge of the team) is my duty and what I have to do.

"I’ve said it before, the most important thing for Ed is that he rests and he recovers.

"The more he does that, then the sooner he’ll be able to come and lead the team again."

In another interview with Sky, the Newcastle caretaker boss added: "He remains the same. With Eddie, it's a day-by-day thing. When he feels right, he will speak to me.

"They're the terms we've left it on. He's in good hands and the main thing is he gets back and leads the team.

"We've not been together for probably a day or two in maybe 17 years. I certainly miss him, even more on days like this."
