Liverpool are reportedly planning for Mohamed Salah to stay at the club next season despite his public falling out with Jurgen Klopp.

The news comes after Gary Neville warned the Egyptian that 'there's only one winner' if he continues a dispute with his manager.

Salah and Klopp argued on the touchline during the second half of the Premier League match away to West Ham on Saturday.

The forward was preparing to come on as a substitute when tensions boiled over between the pair, with Darwin Nunez stepping in as peacemaker.

Salah was dropped to the bench after a disappointing display in the Merseyside derby defeat to Everton last Wednesday.

The goalscoring sensation has just over 12 months remaining on his contract and speculation has increased that he could leave this summer.

Klopp has already confirmed he will be leaving Anfield after almost nine years in charge.

But The Athletic says Liverpool intend to keep Salah for at least another season and the player is keen for that to happen.

Saudi Pro League team Al-Ittihad attempted to sign Salah late in last summer's transfer window.

However, Saudi chiefs believe the 31-year-old wants to spend another year on Merseyside.

Salah could leave Liverpool on a free transfer in 2025 if he does not pen an extension to his current deal.

Liverpool are in line to appoint Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as Klopp's replacement and the Dutchman is set to have Salah at his disposal for at least a year.

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Neville was disappointed to see the incident between Salah and Klopp.

He hopes tempers can be controlled for the remainder of the season and suggested Salah is lucky Klopp is leaving.

Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast: "Unpleasant when you see [that between] an amazing manager and an amazing player. I had that at Manchester United a few times.

"There's only one winner, but the problem is that the manager is leaving which helps Salah a little bit.

"I think there might be a bit of a problem if it were to carry on for the rest of the season. Two massive personalities and characters."

Salah has scored 29 goals for club and country this season but Neville says he has fallen below his usual high standards.

He added: "I was at the Merseyside derby, and I've done a lot of Liverpool games recently and Salah's not at his level.

"He's been an amazing player and is an amazing player, but he was massively off it in the Merseyside derby.

"I mean, he didn't touch the ball in the first half. What was noticeable, he's right in front of me up against [Vitaliy] Mykolenko, I can't remember him getting the ball.

"I think we showed that he had about five to six touches after 30-odd minutes.

"Salah's just hit a brick wall. These players play so much football they play so consistently and Salah has been almost ever-present for like six or seven years. There just comes a point whereby you need a break."
