Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is in the final year of his contract at Liverpool

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah might have just let slip that he is leaving the club at the end of the season.

The Egypt international was speaking to Sky Sports after helping the Reds thrashed Manchester United at Old Trafford in a 3-0 win.

He said: "I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive because as you know it's my last year at the club.

"I just want to enjoy it and I don't want to think about it. I feel like I'm free to play football and then we'll see what happens next year."

Salah is in the final year of his contract at Liverpool and there have been no talks over an extension yet.

But the 32-year-old appears to have already made up his mind on a departure and it means he could leave for nothing next summer.

Saudi Arabia has long been linked with the former Roma star with Liverpool rejecting a mammoth £150million bid last summer.

It comes after a huge win for Liverpool while fans might feel that Salah's admission has sucked the fun out of the result.

The Liverpool superstar kept up his fine form this season with two assists for Diaz before getting on the scoresheet himself.

Salah added: "It's a great result. Everyone knows it's very important for the city and for the fans - and for the manager with his first game in here.

"We're so happy for the result. If you want to fight for the league this is the sort of game you need to win. I'm glad we managed to win it.

"The manager likes us to press high. We scored from all those situations. There's not a big difference from Jurgen at the start and in time we've changed the system a little with the way we play. We're adapting."

As Salah left his Sky Sports interview, pundits Roy Keane and Daniel Sturridge were left stunned by the news.

Keane went on to say that the Liverpool star would easily find a new club as he continues his rich vein of form.

"He was brilliant," the United legend said. "Talk about world-class performance. He's a great example. I really enjoy watching him. Obviously it's hard to take for Man Utd today but you've got to give credit where it's due.

"He's in control of that his contract]. I know clubs have policies about letting players' contracts run down when they get to 31, 32, but he'll decide what he wants to do.

"They'll obviously have to offer him a contract - he's their main player. But put it this way: he will have plenty of options."

Salah has been unstoppable this season while Arne Slot has won three out of three matches as Liverpool manager in the Premier League.

It sees them level with Manchester City at the top of the table as the only other club with a perfect record after three matches.

For Salah, three is the magic number with three goals and three assists so far in the Premier League.
