Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was in rocking form against Newcastle in a 3-3 draw

Jamie Carragher dramatically backtracked on his criticism of Mohamed Salah during Liverpool's thrilling 3-3 draw with Newcastle, repeatedly urging the club to secure the Egyptian's future.

The former Liverpool defender, who recently labelled Salah "selfish" over public contract comments, couldn't contain his enthusiasm whilst watching the match alongside Gary Neville on the Overlap live stream.

His passionate celebrations even saw him diving onto Neville and knocking a painting off the wall.

"Give him what he wants!" Carragher repeatedly shouted during the match, urging Liverpool's hierarchy to offer Salah a new contract.

When Curtis Jones scored Liverpool's first equaliser, Carragher exclaimed: "Get in, get in Curtis lad, 1-1, get paid, back in the game, give him what he wants, get in."

The Sky Sports pundit's enthusiasm peaked after Salah's goal, with Neville reminding him of his previous criticism. Carragher admitted: "Yeah he was (selfish then) but he's not now."

Salah's performance against Newcastle showcased his enduring value, with the forward scoring twice and providing an assist in the 3-3 draw.

The Egyptian's contribution was particularly significant as it saw him break Wayne Rooney's Premier League record, achieving his 37th game with both a goal and assist.

And he has done it in rapid fashion, taking just 277 matches to achieve the feat, which is 214 fewer games than the Englishman.

Salah's future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with his current contract set to expire at the end of this season.

The 32-year-old recently gave a rare interview where he claimed he was "more out than in" with no new contract offer on the table.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move, though their president has denied they will pursue the forward.

Salah has expressed his "love" for Liverpool but believes he deserves terms reflecting his status as one of the Premier League's best players.

The forward would reportedly consider a one-year contract extension but is growing frustrated with how the club are handling negotiations.

With his current deal expiring in summer, Salah can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside England from January 1st.

Salah has amassed an impressive 223 goals in 368 matches since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017.

His potential departure on a free transfer would represent a significant loss for Liverpool, particularly given his consistent impact in front of goal.

Speaking after a recent match against Manchester City, Salah himself acknowledged the uncertainty, telling Sky Sports: "That was in my head, that, until now, this is possibly the last City game that I play for Liverpool."
