The winger recently suggested he was 'more out than in' at Anfield

Ray Parlour believes Mohamed Salah wants, and deserves, a big salary amid the uncertainty over his Liverpool future.

The Egypt international recently suggested he could leave Anfield at the end of the season, when his current deal is due to expire.

Salah has been outstanding for Liverpool this term, netting 12 goals from 19 appearances across all competitions.

His brilliance has driven Arne Slot's side to the top of the Premier League table, with the Merseyside giants currently eight points clear ahead of Sunday's crunch fixture against Manchester City.

Salah has established himself as a Liverpool legend ever since touching down from Roma back in the summer transfer window of 2017.

But with his current deal winding down, it's unclear where his future lies.

Parlour, who won three Premier League titles during a glittering 13-year stint at Arsenal, believes Salah will want a high salary.

Yet he also feels that's something the 32-year-old also deserves given everything he's achieved on Merseyside.

"Salah has been a superstar for Liverpool. He will go down as one of the all time greats, a legend," he exclusively told GB News, via NetBet Sports Betting.

"It's his call really. Maybe he wants to go out on a high at the end of this season.

"He is still performing at the top level so it's up to Liverpool, Slot and the owners as he will want and deserve a big salary."

On Sunday, Liverpool will face Manchester City in the biggest match of the season so far.

It has been a peculiar season for Pep Guardiola's side, who have failed to win their last six matches across all competitions.

Their dismal form looked like it would end when they raced into a 3-0 Champions League lead against Feyenoord on Tuesday night.

Yet the Dutch side came roaring back to end a draw, scoring three late goals to send shockwaves around the Etihad Stadium.

With City trailing Liverpool by eight points, and toiling, some have started to write off Pep Guardiola's side.

Parlour, however, believes they're currently suffering a dip in form.

"It's surely a blip from City," continued the 51-year-old.

"Rodri is a massive loss and maybe they are not as secure in the centre of midfield as they were with him.

"He is the Ballon D'or winner, he is an outstanding player and most things start from him.

"But defensively City have not looked at secure. I am sure they will turn it around and go on a long unbeaten run, but for now, need to tighten up the defence and I am sure [Erling] Haaland will get scoring again."

Both matches between Liverpool and City ended 1-1 last term.

And who comes out on top on Sunday remains to be seen.
