Marcus Rashford's time at Manchester United appears to be all but over after the winger was snubbed for Thursday's Boxing Day clash with Wolves.
The England international, who has long been one of the Red Devils' key players, is yet to win round Ruben Amorim.
Amorim was appointed as Erik ten Hag's permanent replacement last month, with the 39-year-old since enduring a difficult start to life in his new surroundings.
He wants everybody pulling together as United look to bounce back after a dire start to the season that has seen them sit 13th in the Premier League table at Christmas.

But Rashford, it seems, is surplus to requirements already.
The 27-year-old was spotted at Old Trafford on Sunday, despite being left out of the squad, with Rashford watching on as United were hammered 3-0 by Bournemouth.
The party line remains that he is 'ill'. With the January transfer window creeping closer, however, he could have pulled on the club's iconic red jersey for the last time.
It wasn't meant to be like this. Rashford burst onto the scene in 2016 and immediately established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in world football.

He has enjoyed some fine moments with United, winning five major trophies.
Rashford also netted 30 goals in the 2022/23 campaign as Ten Hag guided his side to third in the Premier League table following his appointment.
But Rashford, for the best part of 18 months, has been a shadow of his usual self.
In previous years, United have allowed standards to dip. Not anymore, however, with both Amorim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe eager to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.

Passengers cannot be carried and Rashford, having scored just four league goals all season, is one of them.
As for his next move, it will be interesting to see what happens.
Rashford recently indicated he was ready for a 'new challenge', with his comments raising eyebrows in the process.
Amorim, who can hardly criticise his own players in public, insisted he had no problem with the forward's decision to address his future in an interview with journalist Henry Winter.

However, he did air concerns over Rashford's lifestyle off the pitch and who he lets in to his inner circle.
Reports have suggested the forward is keen to play in Spain. But he's hardly an appealing prospect at the current moment in time, despite his obvious talent.
Barcelona have been linked but would struggle to register Rashford, having been confident of signing the youngster all the way back in 2019.
Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as potential suitors, too, though they're keen to walk away from the Galactico policy they've had ever since they were purchased by the Qataris a decade ago.

United already seem to be moving on from Rashford.
With just days to go until the January transfer window, and in the wake of his snub against Wolves, his time at Old Trafford seems to be up.
