The England international now has three goals from his last two games

Marcus Rashford has expressed a belief it is too 'early' to say whether he's turned a corner following his brace for Manchester United in their 7-0 win over Barnsley on Tuesday night.

The England international has struggled for consistency during the past 18 months, having previously netted 30 goals in the 2022/2023 season.

Rashford started the current campaign in bad form, toiling as the Red Devils lost to the likes of Brighton and Liverpool.

Since the international break, however, he's started to rediscover his mojo.

Rashford scored as United beat Southampton 3-0 at St Mary's on Saturday.

And he followed that up with another two strikes against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, with Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen also bagging braces - while Antony scored a penalty.

Speaking after the win, Rashford was asked about Erik ten Hag's comments where the Dutchman insisted the goals would come.

He is keen to manage expectations, however, and says it is too 'early' to say whether he's now turned a corner.

"It's early to say but I hope so," he said.

“We’ll move onto the next game now and just rest, recover and focus on the next one.

“Football is football - sometimes you have ups and, sometimes, you have downs.

"We have to use these games to find momentum, find consistency and try your best to bring your best level in each game.”

Rashford, a winger by trade, was played down the middle by Ten Hag.

He linked up well with Garnacho, who staked him own claim for a regular starting berth with his own excellent brace.

And Rashford was full of praise for the youngster after the fixture at Old Trafford.

“It’s important to have those relationships on the pitch but I think as a front unit, linking with the midfield, I felt we did very well today," he said.

“Before the first goal, it was a little difficult but after the first one, we found better spaces and we probably made better decisions in order to score.”

Ten Hag, meanwhile, hailed Rashford and the whole team as United recorded the biggest victory of his tenure so far.

“In my first season, also he had this vibe and this good mood," he said when asked about the 26-year-old.

"When I see Marcus Rashford, I’m composed and I’m confident that he will score.
