Manchester United have sacked Erik ten Hag after two and a half years in charge following the club's 2-1 defeat to West Ham.
The defeat to West Ham left United 14th in the Premier League table with just three wins from nine matches.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over as United interim manager while they begin searching for a permanent replacement.
Ten Hag's management staff will also remain at the club to work alongside Van Nistelrooy.
Erik ten Hag has been sacked
PAUnited's statement read: "Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.
"Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
"We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
"Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited."
The former United striker was recruited to join Ten Hag's backroom staff in the summer having begun his coaching career in the Netherlands.
The 48-year-old was appointed as PSV manager in March 2022 and left the club little over a year later.
Ten Hag was originally supported by the United board in the summer when he was given a one-year extension to his contract.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe had reportedly held meetings with Thomas Tuchel, but the German coach rejected their approach.

PAThe former Bayern Munich was being touted as one of the favourites for the job as pressure mounted on Ten Hag in the first few months of the season.
But United will have to look elsewhere now with Tuchel agreeing to take over as the next England head coach in the New Year.
It appears as though Van Nistelrooy will be given an opportunity to prove himself in the role while United begin their search for a permanent replacement.
