Ruben Amorim, the current Sporting manager, is reportedly set to become Manchester United's next boss after the international break.
Portuguese media claim Amorim will remain at Sporting for three more matches before making the switch to Old Trafford.
This comes after Sporting announced that United were prepared to pay Amorim's €10 million release clause.
The Portuguese club has allegedly agreed to release the coach before the 30-day notice period in his contract, but not immediately.
The 39-year-old's potential move follows United's sacking of Erik ten Hag on Monday, with the club currently struggling in 14th place in the Premier League.
Amorim remained tight-lipped about his future during a press conference on Tuesday.

The coach added, "There's nothing to talk about. There's the club statement, everyone knows about it. It was said by the club. For the rest, we don't know the exact details. We'll see..."

Amorim refused to make any promises but confirmed his immediate plans, saying, "What I do know is that I'll be at training tomorrow and I'll be preparing for the league game with Estrela da Amadora on Friday."
Sporting's upcoming fixtures include a crucial Champions League match against Manchester City next Tuesday. This could be one of Amorim's final games in charge of the Portuguese club.
Sporting will then face Braga in the league on 10 November, which may potentially be Amorim's last match before his rumoured move to Manchester United.

Manchester United's managerial shake-up saw Erik ten Hag sacked on Monday, with the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League.
