INEOS are ready to make big changes at Old Trafford

Manchester United fans have vented their fury after a report claimed Graham Potter had been 'sounded out' about potentially taking over at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has overseen a nightmare season so far, with the Red Devils winning just 10 of their 20 Premier League matches.

United insist they're behind the Dutchman, despite woes worsening.

Yet INEOS could change things up come the end of the campaign after Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently purchased a 25 per cent stake in the club.

ESPN say INEOS' preference is to keep Ten Hag until the summer.

However, poor results could force their hand sooner despite their determination to give the Dutchman more time.

It's also claimed Potter has been informally sounded out about his plans for the future.

And Jean-Claude Blanc, who is set for a role on the United board, has received calls from agents pushing their clients to take over.

Potter worked wonders at Brighton and Swansea earlier in his career.

But his stock plumetted after a turbulent spell at Chelsea last season.

And fans online have raged amid links to Potter, with one X user saying: "When will the suffering end?"

A second said: "Graham Potter wouldn't last a month at Utd before players were throwing him under the bus, absolutely no chance."

A third stated: "Ngl as much as I hate ETH and think he’s one of the biggest managerial disappointments ever, I would rather keep him then get Graham Potter, surely there has to be better options out there for us? Surely?"

A fourth stated: "This would be the nail in the coffin for the club's doom."

"Potter is nowhere near good enough for the Utd job, will be sacked within months," ranted a fifth.

A sixth raged: "If Potter is brought in I'm genuinely finished with this club."

And a seventh simply said: "We will be relegated."

For now, Ten Hag is safe.

But the United boss needs results to improve if he's to last at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils recently lost 2-1 to Nottingham Forest in their final match of 2023.

Marcus Rashford scored his first goal for United in open play since September at the City Ground.

However, Forest picked up all three points courtesy of goals from Nicolas Dominguez and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Ten Hag was asked about his situation at United after that defeat, with the pressure on his shoulders mounting.

But he was defiant, insisting he's got what it takes to turn things around - and that the return of key players will help.

United are next in action against Wigan in the third round of the FA Cup on January 8 (8.15pm).

The Red Devils last won the competition in 2016, back when Louis van Gaal ruled the roost.

United did make the FA Cup final last season, however, losing 2-1 to fierce rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
