The 84-year-old died last month following a battle with dementia

The Glazer family will not attend Manchester United legend Denis Law's funeral at Manchester Cathedral on Tuesday, according to reports.

The decision comes after the club's owners faced fierce criticism for failing to send representatives to Sir Bobby Charlton's funeral in 2023.

The Glazers previously stayed away from Charlton's service to avoid causing a distraction, though fans condemned their absence as a 'shameful example' of their disconnect with United.

According to The Mirror, it will be a similar story on Tuesday with the family keen to avoid a backlash amid the club's poor form this season.

His remarkable scoring prowess extended to international football, where he remains Scotland's joint top scorer with 30 goals from 55 caps.

During his illustrious 11-year spell at Old Trafford, Law established himself as one of football's greatest talents, claiming the prestigious Ballon d'Or in 1964.

Manchester United issued a statement mourning the loss of Law, describing him as 'the King of the Stretford End'.

"The ultimate goal-scorer, his flair, spirit and love for the game made him the hero of a generation. Our deepest condolences go out to Denis's family and many friends. His memory will live on forever more."

Former United captain Bryan Robson led tributes, saying: "We have lost one of football's giants both as a player and a gentleman. It's incredibly sad."
