The Reds are now four points clear at the top of the Premier League table

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken out following his side's dramatic 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, with the German opting to praise his team rather than focus on the chaotic scenes after the contest.

The Reds have been depleted by injuries in recent weeks and weren't at their swashbuckling best during the contest at the City Ground.

However, a late goal from Darwin Nunez secured a dramatic win for the Merseyside giants - who are now four points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Tempers boiled over at full time, with Forest assistant Steven Reid shown a straight red card after clashes on the bench - with referee Paul Tierney surrounded by players and staff members alike.

But Klopp refused to let that overshadow his side's victory, with the Liverpool boss admitting he's 'really happy' with the result.

"[It was the] most difficult game we played because of the circumstances," said the 56-year-old, who will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season.

"Four games in 11 days is really tricky with the squad situation we have. It was super special. You could see it didn't go easy for us today in any part of the game.

"It's so hard. How we have four wins, I can't believe. Incredible assist in the very last second. Wonderful feeling. I'm really happy.

"I can't ask for more than what the boys are doing.

"Next Sunday would be a massive game anyway. Before that we play a difficult game in Prague. We have to keep going, recover."

Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has also reacted to his side's win, with the World Cup winner providing the assist for Nunez's winner.

And the Argentina international savoured a 'special' victory when speaking at full time, admitting Forest were 'tough' to beat.

"This is such a special day for us. To win it like that is not easy. We came to a tough place," he said.

"In that moment I knew it was last minute and I just had to put it in. Darwin is such an important player for us.

"There is no easy game in the Premier League. Very happy, very happy.

"It's three points. We move onto Thursday.

"We were always positive. Our leaders were keeping the team very positive. We're a good group, nice players on and off the pitch."

Liverpool will now have five days to prepare for their next match against Sparta Prague on Thursday night.

And they can sleep soundly tonight in the knowledge that they're top of the Premier League table.

Manchester City can close the gap to just one point, however, if they're able to beat Manchester United in their crunch derby showdown on Sunday.

Klopp, meanwhile, has also hailed Mac Allister - describing the midfielder as the 'calmest player' on the pitch while praising the former Brighton star's assist for Nunez's winner.

"Pretty special afternoon. It's been a tricky schedule," he admitted.

"This game didn't go easy for us. We didn't have a great rhythm and the boys felt the intensity for the first time.

"We had our moments. We didn't start well.

"In the last second the guy who looks like a former Liverpool player thought I'll score a goal and decide the game.

"The goal was set up by a guy who was the calmest on the whole pitch. I saw it only live but I'll never forget it. He was calm. He chips the ball there. Super assist and super important goal.

"If you'd told me 12 days ago we would win all four games I would have said no chance, it was impossible. In the circumstances winning the games is ridiculous.

"We will recharge until the next game. It's pretty special what the boys did. To get to that points tally was a big fight. It never was easy."
