The two sides will lock horns at Wembley on Sunday

Liverpool could be without as many as 10 players for Sunday's Carabao Cup final clash with Chelsea.

The Reds have been excellent this season and remain on course to complete a stunning quadruple ahead of Jurgen Klopp's departure at the end of the campaign.

They will face a Chelsea side who appear to have turned a corner following a recent improvement in performances.

The Blues are unbeaten in their past three matches, having beaten Aston Villa and Crystal Palace while drawing with Manchester City on Sunday.

But Liverpool could be without as many as eight players for Sunday's blockbuster clash, in a huge blow to Klopp's plans for the final.

The Merseyside giants are already without Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Joel Matip and Ben Doak due to long-term injury issues.

And the Daily Mail say Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones have both been ruled out of the match with Chelsea following scans at their training ground in Kirkby.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will also miss the showdown, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Alisson are described as 'major doubts due to hamstring issues'.

There are also worries over Darwin Nunez, too, after the Uruguay international was forced off in his side's 4-1 win over Brentford on Saturday.

Regarding Jota, Liverpool are worried the Portugal international could miss the next two months of action.

The former Wolves star stepped up for the Reds while Mohamed Salah was strutting his stuff for Egypt at the recent African Cup of Nations.

But Liverpool now facing having to navigate an important run of fixtures without Jota, with his nine team-mates also sidelined for the time being.

Before they face Chelsea, they'll face Luton in the Premier League on Sunday.

The minnows won't be easy, especially given the valiant fight they showed in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Liverpool are also due for big matches against Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Everton in the coming weeks ahead.

Klopp's side beat Chelsea in the final of the Carabao Cup back in 2022.

After no goals in both normal or extra-time, the match went to penalties with each of the first 21 kicks converted.

However, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga then missed with Liverpool eventually winning the shootout 11-10.

They also beat the Blues in the final of the FA Cup that year, too, with penalties again needed to separate the two sides.

Klopp, meanwhile, bemoaned his side's back luck with injuries following the weekend's win over Brentford.

"Definitely," he said. "I think there was a knock on Curtis [Jones]. It was a challenge with Diogo [Jota] as well and Darwin [Nunez] we are not sure if he has something or not, he felt something.

"We will see. It was never easy for us, at the moment it is fine.

"We have 57 points and in a few days play again."

For now, however, Liverpool's immediate focus is the match with Luton.
