Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has defended his teammates after manager Arne Slot expressed strong criticism of their Champions League performance against Girona.
Despite maintaining their perfect record in the competition and all but securing their place in the last 16, Slot was "far from pleased" with the team's display.
The Brazilian shot-stopper, who recently returned from a nine-week hamstring injury layoff, insisted that players cannot be expected to perform like machines in every match.
His defence comes as Liverpool continue their impressive run, having won 19 of their 22 games this season.

Slot's criticism focused specifically on Liverpool's intensity and pressing during the match against Girona.
The manager's dissatisfaction came despite his team maintaining their position at the top of both the Champions League and Premier League tables.
Alisson played a crucial role in the victory, making several important saves on his return to action.
The clean sheet helped secure another win for Liverpool, though their head coach remained unconvinced by the overall performance level.
The victory marked their 19th win from 22 matches this season, yet Slot made it clear this wasn't enough to satisfy his demands for high-intensity football.
Responding to the criticism, Alisson emphasised that winning despite not playing at their best is a hallmark of successful teams.
"Yes, it's part of a winning team," said the goalkeeper. "For sure, you've seen so many teams during the season winning trophies and they don't deliver the best performances ever."
He added: "Of course, we're not machines and we're going to have not-so-good days, but the good thing in football is you have another chance in three days."

The Brazilian urged his teammates to focus on their previous strong performances: "Just look to the good things we did in the games, like for example against Manchester City and Real Madrid, and keep on doing that."
Looking ahead, Alisson highlighted the positive impact of returning players for Liverpool's squad depth.
"Now having players coming back from injuries is good as well," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"Myself, other players, Diogo, Chiesa. Macca was also out, but everybody is ready to make the difference."
The goalkeeper is particularly excited about his upcoming return to Anfield against Fulham, his first home appearance since October 2.
"Anfield is always special and against a tough opponent, Fulham, they're playing really well this season," he said.
"We know that will be difficult, as it was against Girona or even more."
