The Lille star is poised to become the Red Devils' second summer signing

Leny Yoro has reportedly agreed to join Manchester United, with the Lille star flying into England to undergo a medical with the club.

The Red Devils want a new centre-back to replace Raphael Varane, who left Old Trafford earlier in the summer after three years of service.

Yoro impressed for Lille last term, making 32 Ligue 1 appearances as his side finished fourth in the table.

The centre-back had been keen on a move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid. However, with the Spanish side reluctant to cough up the cash, United have now been able to steal a march on their European rivals.

The Manchester Evening News say Yoro has now agreed to join United and become the club's second summer signing.

The Red Devils recently sealed a deal for Joshua Zirkzee, with the Netherlands international touching down from Serie A side Bologna.

United are set to land Yoro for a fee of £58.7million, making him the club's second most-expensive centre-back signing of all time.

Only Harry Maguire set United back more, with the England star costing a massive £80m upon moving from Leicester back in the summer transfer window of 2019.

According to The Athletic, Yoro is flying to England to undergo a medical.

If all goes to plan, he could be a United player by the end of the week - in a huge capture for manager Erik ten Hag.

United could yet sign another defender, though a second deal is dependent on outgoings.

The fallen giants are huge admirers of Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite and have had two bids for the youngster turned down so far.

Matthijs de Ligt is also under consideration, though Yoro has always been United's first-choice centre-back target.

Ten Hag is hoping to bring in another midfielder by the time the summer transfer window shuts, with Casemiro a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Manuel Ugarte is on their radar, with United currently in talks with Paris Saint-Germain as they look to land the Uruguay international.

Meanwhile, speaking earlier this week, Ten Hag opened up on the arrival of Zirkzee and how the 23-year-old fits into his plans for next season.

“He is a player who can link up the game," said the Dutchman.

“Who can be available, hold up the ball, have good ideas, be creative, can dribble, [make] combinations.

“So that’s a different type and always what we are looking for, so it gives us more options tactically, which is good because, especially up front, we have many players who can play very direct and they can take a big benefit from his skills.”

Ten Hag also believes United need more players as they look to bounce back following a turbulent season last time out.

“I think we showed we can beat the best team in the world on the last occasion of the season,” Ten Hag continued.

“So when everyone is fit, we already have a good team and achieve a high level.

“But also we know, in the depth, we need more players. Especially this season, again more games, the new model, the new format of Europe – you’ll have more games in a season, more intense games, no winter break, a January that’s very condensed.

“You need squad depth. Then it’s more and more about survival of the fittest.”
