Leeds landed promotion to the Premier League from the Championship at the weekend and could even win the title

There were parties on the streets of Leeds over the Easter break after a barnstorming 6-0 victory over Stoke, coupled with Burnley's win over Sheffield United on Sunday, saw the Whites return to the Premier League.

It was their second season since being relegated from the top flight in 2023 - and Leeds could even finish the season as title winners in the Championship.

With two games left, they sit on 94 points alongside Burnley but above on goal difference - meaning they could end the season with 100 points.

Yet, manager Daniel Farke is under huge pressure and is currently fighting for his job and the chance to lead the Whites out on the first game of the season next campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds chiefs are considering whether to axe the former Norwich boss.

But as brutal as it might be, they are right.

Leeds have a daunting task ahead of them when they return to the Premier League next season; staying up.

It is a task that the last six teams from the Championship have failed to complete (including Ipswich, who are as good as down despite relegation not yet being confirmed).

One of the main reasons for this is these clubs, who might storm to victory in the second-tier and enjoy higher possession, more shots and better passing, cannot adapt to the sheer gulf in class that separates the two divisions.

Look at Southampton, a joy to watch in the Championship under Russell Martin last year, yet his tactics translated to borderline kamikaze this season and were basically relegated after the first couple of months.

With 11 points to their name, they are battling to stave off the record of equalling the lowest points tally in Premier League history.

Leeds' US-based owners, 49ers Enterprises, are distinctly aware of the challenge that awaits them - and the man in charge might not be up to the task.

Many fans believe he should be given a chance but his last two seasons in the top-tier saw Norwich finish bottom of the table with 21 points, 14 from safety in 2020.

When he took the Canaries back up, he was sacked on November 6 after five points from 11 matches.

Stifling Leeds' attacking play would be ridiculous, they have talented forwards such as Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto and Brenden Aaronson.

But having a strong defence and making Elland Road a fortress would give Leeds the bedrock necessary to beating the drop next season.

However, who do Leeds go for? Hiring a firefighter manager like Sean Dyche or Sam Allardyce might not go down well with the fans.

But the fans will have to get used to watching their side suffer over the next 12 months - they will not enjoy themselves like they have done this year in the Championship.
